Stephane Javelle discovered IC 1585 = J. 3-827, along with IC 1583, on 23 Nov 1897. His micrometric position is accurate.
600/800mm - 24" (12/1/13): fairly faint, very small, round, 18" diameter, contains a very small very bright nucleus. This compact galaxy has a very high surface brightness. Second in a small triplet with IC 1583 1.5' NW and MCG +04-03-003 1.2' ESE.
