DeLisle Stewart discovered IC 1562 = DS 115 on an Arequipa plate taken on 3 Nov 1898. He recorded "vF, vmE at 0° [N-S], gbM."

400/500mm - 18" (12/17/11): at 175x, an extremely or nearly very faint, low surface brightness glow was visible with averted vision. Appeared fairly small, elongated N-S, ~25"x15". Located 27' SW of mag 5.2 HD 4247. This dwarf is a member of the Sculptor Group.
