Lewis Swift discovered IC 1154 = Sw. VII-64 on 2 Jul 1888 and reported "vF; pS; R." His position is unusually accurate.

600/800mm - 24" (7/20/17): at 375x; fairly faint or moderately bright, round, ~30" diameter, well concentrated with a bright core, faint stellar nucleus. Flanked by a mag 13 star 1.2' NW and a mag 14.5 star 1.3' S. Located 31' SW of NGC 6048.
