Stephane Javelle discovered IC 1047 = J. 313 on 18 May 1892.

400/500mm - 18" (7/10/10): at 285x appeared very faint, small, round, 20" diameter, low surface halo surrounding a brighter core. Located 5' S of a mag 11 star. Collinear with three mag 13-13.5 stars extending to the NE with the closest 1.6' NE. A compact group of extremely faint galaxies lies 4' S of IC 1047 and the combined glow (or the brightest galaxy) was just visible. NGC 5737 lies 22' SE.
